Day seats are a number of tickets that many shows hold to be sold on the day of every performance, often when the box office opens in the morning.
Simply go to the theatre and wait for the box office to open - with popular shows people tend to get there early, so be prepared to wait a while - and dress up warm in the winter! People are often happy to save your place if you pop off to get a coffee, but be sure to be considerate with others waiting. You have to buy the tickets in person, and sometimes with cash only.
There are many seat filling clubs in London which work on a basis that Producers and Venue Managers give the seat fillers a limited amount of complimentary tickets to promote the show. Usually they ask you to tell all your friends and family because your word of mouth publicises the show and everybody has a good time! Generally you will pay a yearly subscription and then a small admin cost of around £3. And it's not just plays – they have tickets for musicals, concerts and cabarets, operas, dramas, comedy stand-up, burlesque, dance; even films and family shows. On the Fringe, in the West End, and throughout London and outer London too! A quick google will reveal these clubs!
Many productions now offer an online Lottery to win cheap Front Row tickets! Each lottery run’s in a different way so research each production to find out how to enter!
Happy ticket hunting! A great app for this is TodayTix which hosts online lotteries and rush tickets.
