We are delighted to announce NORMALCY BY BONNIE ADAIR as our third Create project:

'That is your fucking problem, is your obsession with being normal. No one’s normal, you’re not normal/ I’m not normal…normal people are not obsessed with being fucking normal'

Emma’s world is falling apart. Why can’t everything just go back to how it was?  Normalcy takes a long hard look at what makes each of us truly happy and at what cost to ourselves and others. Exploring stereotypes, sexuality, gender roles and toxic family relationships, Normalcy is a hard hitting dark comedy about antithetical thirty something sisters dealing with a lesbian mother, a dead dad, a potential pregnancy and a fiancee who is not all that he seems.

Law Ballard (Dramaturg/Director/Actor) and Ellie Zeegen (Dramaturg/AD/Producer) are in no doubt that Normalcy gives voice is those that must be heard with subject matter essential to our times:

‘"I am writing Normalcy to give a voice to the people caught in the middle: those who do not conform to a sexual or gendered label, but who are exploring fluidity, figuring it out as they go along. It gives voice to those who are terrified of change, and through the protagonist’s journey, Emma, shows us what it takes to see beyond the labels and accept the ones we love as they really are, rather than what we would like them to be.'  Bonnie Adair

Thanks to a massively successful Crowdfunder campaign which surpassed its target Normalcy has now completed a final essential R&D phase which has provided material from which the final draft will be honed.  The Create Project is ensuring the play gets the exposure and launchpad it deserves via a rehearsed reading in front of industry, friends and colleagues at the Park Theatre in late January 2020.
