The Vision

The Create Project is a new writing initiative at The Actors Temple led by Director/Dramaturg Law Ballard and Producer/Dramaturg Ellie Zeegen.  Create offers encouragement, support and nurtures new creatives to help develop new written work to a point where they will be staged as a rehearsed reading. These include: Awaken by Cheryl Prince, Scooter by Paula Connolly and Normalcy by Bonnie Adair.

Who is it for?

Actors, Writers, Directors, and Artists who have an idea they have been yearning to develop further or to create a piece of new work but need support and guidance. Actors who have experience in improvisation and want to develop their piece to a performance level or writers who have work they wish to develop and need support from the Actors' Temple creative process. All Creatives need to have an awareness of, and an openness to the work of the Actors' Temple.

  • Normalcy

    Normalcy by Bonnie Adair

Thanks to a massively successful Crowdfunder campaign which surpassed its target Normalcy completed a final essential R&D, material from which the final draft was honed.  The Create Project ensured the play got the exposure and launchpad it deserves via a rehearsed reading in front of industry, friends and colleagues at the Park Theatre in late January 2020.

  • Awaken

    Awaken by Cheryl Prince

Cheryl and her Temple co-actors (Penny Bosworth, Elena Harding, Tom Sawyer, Craig Simons and Mark Wakeling) have been improvising for Awaken via Create since January 2017.

  • Scooter

    Scooter by Paula Connolly

Paula, with actors Bonnie Adair and Nicole Gaskell, have been developing Scooter since January 2017.  The actors have worked towards a rough draft and performed a scratch reading in front of Temple colleagues via our PlayWright/ PlayRead night.
