The Actors’ Temple was conceived in 2003 by Mark Wakeling as a response to his experience as a professional actor. The Temple was founded out of a desire for connection with others and to balance the isolation that can arise from life as a working actor. This action attracted others who felt the same and with the help of co-founder and actress Ellie Zeegen and actor and alumni of the late Sanford Meisner, Tom Radcliffe, a community was born. Backed up by the principles of Meisner's approach and Tom’s unique dedication as a teacher, a whole new approach towards actor training in the UK was developed. This now forms the backbone for all training at The Actors Temple, where genuine authenticity in the work is the un-flinching benchmark.
From humble beginnings, The Actors' Temple has developed into a widespread community of talented artists including actors, filmmakers, writers, directors, and producers. On top of this, several alumni have gone on to create their own training studios and are teaching their versions of the work across London, the UK, Europe and beyond.
We are equipped to fully support actors throughout their careers and are dedicated to continue our pioneering role in the world of actor training.
