Testimonials

Here is what people have to say about the Actors’ Temple.

I was on the verge of giving up the whole business after sixteen years when a series of coincidences led me to picking up the phone and calling the Temple. What followed was the most inspiring conversation I’d had with another actor in a long, long time. Mark understood exactly where I was coming from. He laid out the philosophy and the pragmatism behind the training and what he and Ellie were trying to do and I was sold on it from that day to this.

I feel solidly equipped to face any of the acting challenges that come my way. I got back the freedom and love of play that got me into this business in the first place, but which I’d lost over the years through the continued exposure to fear, criticism, rejection and disappointment that characterise the worst aspects of the actor’s life.

The Actors Temple is a long-overdue response; a subtle revolution that gives actors the permission and wherewithal to respect and conduct themselves as professionals and the resources to create outstanding work within or without the industry.

I am surrounded and supported by a family of like-minded colleagues who share a vocabulary, a passion, a means of working to the highest possible standard and a deep-seated belief in the power of this wonderful art form. Get onboard.

A place of creativity, refuge, and that certain je ne sais quoi.

Sanford Meisner famously said it takes 20 years to become an actor. At first that sounded painful, like a hard slog! I’d be really old before I got my Oscar! But now I see it’s better to slow-cook and learn than be thrown into the fire and burn, I want longevity with my career and the AT is a place which supports me in that.

Upon leaving Drama School I realised I could create good work, but I had no technique, no reliable process I could count on, it was all a bit hit or miss, big time!
[Then I found the Actors’ Temple]. This was a place where I instantly felt at home and encountered a way of working which made acting exciting and not a chore. It made me realise that acting training is for life, not just for drama school

Dear Ellie,

I don’t know if you remember me, I came in for a One2One about a month
ago to go over my Drama School audition speeches (Posthumus from
Cymbeline and Cosmo from The Pitchfork Disney). I just wanted to say a
massive thankyou for the help that you gave me. I got into Rose Bruford
AND The Drama Centre and your help contributed to these achievements
greatly. I noticed when I auditioned at Drama Centre that some students
are doing classes at the Temple so I might end up there again as part my
course!

Anyway I just wanted to keep you updated and thank you

Regards,

Wow! I felt – yes felt that I was re-introduced to truly feeling again and not manufacturing emotions through thinking. Listening and opening up to our fellow actors, enabled us to connect with each other and create energy, emotion and truth.

I found Module 1 to be challenging but truly exhilarating - I can’t wait to start working on Module 2.

Kindest Regards
